The Cambridge Social Media x Politics Convention was a global online educational convention dedicated to finding ways to utilize Social Media to positively impact global politics. Over the course of two days, thirty-seven students from around the world joined us in teams of four to explore the use of Social Media for politics while conferring with mentors.
Policy professionals, academics, and political content creators spoke at the convention to foster constructive thought analyzing the central policy question.
This event was a collaborative effort between CCIR and Youth Institutte for Policy—two dedicated nonpartisan and educational organizations.
Among our speakers were:
Dr. Paolo Gerbaudo, Lecturer in Digital Culture and Society in the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College London. Professor Thi Nyugen, associate professor of philosophy at University of Utah. Professor Diana Owen, professor of political science teaching in the Communication, Culture, and Technology graduate program. Afra Wang, a California-based podcaster and writer, and founder of Loud Murmurs. Jen Foster, an activist on- and off-line, and a philosophy PhD candidate at University of Southern California.
